A detached house tucked away in a truly wonderful location on the outskirts of Wells. Amazing views, three bedrooms and grounds of around half an acre. Scope to extend (subject to planning and consents). Double garage and parking.

Lilliput is an interesting detached former bungalow in a truly wonderful location in an “area of outstanding natural beauty” surrounded by farmland. Originally built in 1947, the property has been extended over the years and now offers comfortable and practical living throughout.

Approached over a long driveway and tucked away in an elevated position, the property has gorgeous far reaching westerly views across open countryside. Unsurprisingly, Lilliput has only had two owners in its’ lifetime. There are no close neighbours and the property sits behind natural hedges giving total privacy.

A mile of footpath leads to Ash Lane entrance of the Blue School with Wells Cathedral and the Market Place a short distance further. Several other footpaths lead to the Mendip Way, Monarchs Way or into the city of Wells.

The front door opens into a light and spacious hall. Practicalities are catered for with a utility room that has wall and floor cupboards along with space for a washing machine and tumble dryer and on the right of the hall, a cloakroom. Just along the hall is the kitchen that is fitted with a good range of wall and floor cupboards, appliances include an electric double oven and hob and an integrated dishwasher. The oil boiler is also located in here. The kitchen is open to the dual aspect dining room with a window overlooking the garden to the side and double doors opening onto the westerly facing garden with wonderful far-reaching views.

Returning to the hall the sitting room door is on the left and opens into a well-proportioned, wonderfully light and bright dual aspect sitting room. Large glazed sliding doors frame the westerly views and during the winter months with the darker evenings, an open fire gives an alternative focal point. Off the sitting room, a glass door opens into the study, again with a large glazed sliding door to the garden that gives far-reaching views.

On the right-hand side of the hall a door leads to the master bedroom that has built-in wardrobes with plenty of useful space and a large glazed sliding door to the garden and again, those amazing views. The en suite bathroom has a bath, built-in vanity unity with a wash basin and wc and a separate large shower.

First Floor

Stairs from the hall lead to the landing that has lots of natural light. Either side of the landing are two double bedrooms, both with Velux windows and eaves storage areas. Accessed from the landing, the shower room has a corner shower cubicle, hand basin and wc.

A long curving driveway leads to a gravelled turning and parking area at the side of Lilliput. The double garage has light and power and a door to the side that leads to the adjacent lean-to store, which is ideal for logs, wood and bin storage. The garden on the south side of the property is lawned and has been planted with some trees including a young oak. The lawn continues around to the west side of the house where there are flower borders and further planting of mature shrubs. At the rear of the house, the raised paved terraced with amazing views, gives the perfect vantage point to sit and watch the sunsets, the weather and changing light across the countryside beyond.

Lilliput offers the perfect place for nature lovers and bird watchers with an abundance of wildlife all around.

Upper Milton is on the northern side of the cathedral city of Wells and is tucked into the lower slopes of the Mendip Hills, an area of natural outstanding beauty. Lilliput is located off the Old Bristol Road and accessed along a private driveway. Footpaths close to the property lead down to the City and the Ash Lane entrance to the Blue School is around a mile from Lilliput on foot. The Market Place and Cathedral are around a mile from the property. Wells itself offers a range of shopping facilities including a high proportion of independent shops and supermarkets, banks, restaurants, public houses, cinema and churches. The market square holds a popular farmer’s market on Wednesday and Saturday.

The nearby Georgian city of Bath and the regional centre of Bristol are also within good commuting distance, while Castle Cary Station with links to London Paddington and Exeter is a 14-mile drive away. Bristol International Airport is 18 miles away. There are excellent schools in Wells and the surrounding area including highly regarded primary schools in Wells, the extremely sought-after Wells Blue secondary school, Wells Cathedral School, Downside School, All Hallows Preparatory School and Millfield.

Leaving Wells on the A39 / Bristol Road, turn left into Ash Lane and then immediately right into Old Bristol Road. Follow this road for around half a mile and Lilliput can be found just off the bend on the left hand side.
