Mendip Auction Rooms

Established in 2012, the Mendip Auction Rooms are situated near the Mendip village of Binegar close to the Mendip Inn and the A37. The auction rooms stage a busy calendar of auctions with online bidding allowing the auction rooms to reach the furthest corners of the globe. With over 50,000 registered clients, the Mendip Auction Rooms have now become established and popular.

The team are dedicated and work incredibly hard in staging auctions, ensuring that clients receive sound advice and the best prices are achieved. Collectively, they have decades of experience and are supported by a fantastic team of consultants who are experts in their fields including jewellery, silver, militaria, stamps, coins, guns, ceramics, pictures and much more.

Working closely with their colleagues across Killens, the team can assist clients in providing a 'one stop' service of selling a home and contents in a seamless fashion and can arrange house clearances to be professionally conducted.

Tom Killen, Partner/Auctioneer

Tom Killen

Partner/Auctioneer

Tom established Killens in 2008 and was born and bred in Somerset. He has almost 30 years’ experience in providing property advice throughout the West Country. He attended Wells Cathedral School and is a graduate of Reading University and the Royal Agricultural College. He specialises in the delivery of professional services as a land agent. He is also an auctioneer selling at the Killens Auction Rooms. In addition to having a growing family, Tom is involved in the local community supporting various charities.

Saleroom Manager

Nicky oversees the day to day running of the auction rooms and ensures sales are produced to a high standard. Nicky is our problem solver and has a can do attitude. She has a background in retail and HR and also runs a village shop. She lives locally and keeps busy with three children and dogs.


Harriet Mustard, Valuer/Cataloguer

Harriet Mustard

Valuer/Cataloguer

Harriet is one the in-house valuers at the auction rooms and is an important member of the valuers team. Having previously worked in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, she has a good knowledge of jewellery and watches. She also specialises in toys and textiles. Out of work, Harriet takes a keen interest in rugby having previously played for a local lady’s team.


Paul Nation, Valuer/Cataloguer/Auctioneer

Paul is an experienced valuer having previously worked at Bristol Auction Rooms and for St Peters Hospice, where he valued and catalogued items for sale. Paul is a general valuer heavily involved in the staging of Interiors & Collectables sales. In his spare time, he partakes in martial arts.

Having trained as a fine artist, Anna worked for nearly twenty years in the Asian Art Department of Kunsthaus Lempertz in Cologne and has extensive experience of all aspects of the auction business as well as a keen interest in Asian Art. Anna continues to practice as a mixed media artist in her spare time and is an enthusiastic amateur gardener.


Toby Cleaves, Valuer/Cataloguer/Auctioneer

Toby comes from a Cornish farming family and attended Harper Adams University where he gained a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management. He gained experience working for a firm of auctioneers in Birmingham before joining Killens in February 2023. His specialisms are toys, stamps and coins. He is member of a local Young Farmers Club and his main interests are farming and the countryside.


Neil Sterry, Professional Photographer

Neil helps out in a variety of aspects of the saleroom, but predominantly oversees the photography of all items offered for sale. Before joining the auction rooms, Neil previously worked in logistical roles along with freelancing as a photographer with various companies. Outside of work, Neil’s hobbies and interests include classic cars and film/photography with many hours spent in a darkroom. In addition, he is a new father.


Brian Lang, Valuer & Saleroom

Valuer & Saleroom

Brian has worked in the antiques industry since a young age in antique dealerships, designers and auction houses. He is very knowledgeable in all aspects of antiques and is often called upon by valuers for advice. He is very capable in the day to day management of the saleroom ensuring that items are properly accepted, laid out, presented, sold and collected. His interests include motorcycles.


Toby Dawkins, Saleroom Assistant/Porter

Toby joined Killens in 2019 as an apprentice and has developed into a capable and enthusiastic member of the auction rooms team. He lives near Wedmore and his interests include motorcycles and watersports. He is an exceptional sailor and wind surfer.
